LAKE VIEW — Mrs. Irene E. Rogers, 84, died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2007, at her home following a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 6, at First Baptist Church, Lake View. Burial will be in Lake View Perpetual Cemetery directed by Cook Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mrs. Rogers was born June 10, 1922, in Fork. She was the daughter of Zachariah and Ethel Stubbs Edwards. Mrs. Rogers was a member of First Baptist Church of Lake View where she taught Sunday School for many years. She graduated from Winthrop College with a degree in education and she retired in 1985 as a school teacher in Dillon County after 31 years of service. Mrs. Rogers was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Delta Kappa Gamma and the American Legion Auxiliary. Surviving Mrs. Rogers is her husband of 64 years, Truett Rogers of the home; sons, Paul Rogers of Lake View, Michael and his wife, Faye, of Ocean Isle Beach, N.C., and Mickey Rogers of Lake View; sister, Peggy Jean Ivey of Lake View; brother, Jack Edwards and his wife, Carolyn, of Ontario, Fla.; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
