AYNOR | Specialist Anthony Chad Owens, 21, died Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2006 in Iraq. Born in Florence County, Oct. 5, 1984, he was the son of Ronnie Owens and Susan Williamson Owens. He was a member of Maple Baptist Church in Conway, and was a U.S. Army Veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom while assigned to 1st Battalion, 502d Infantry Regiment, 2d Brigade. Survivors include his parents of Aynor; brother, Shane Owens of Germany; sister, Veronica Owens of Aynor; maternal grandmother, Betty Williamson of Dillon; paternal grandmother, Earline Owens of Dillon; aunts, JoAnn Owens and Betty Ann Sweatt, both of Dillon, Teresa Cannon and Holly Carroll, both of Conway; uncles, Ray Williamson of Dillon and Billy Owens of Knoxville, Tenn.; and numerous cousins. Mr. Owens was preceded in death by his grandfather, Thurman Williamson. Services for Mr. Owens will be held 3 p.m. Sunday in Mt. Calvary Baptist Church.
