CONWAY — James Albert Allen, Sr., age 75, of Adrian Hwy., died Monday, May 8, 2006, at his residence. Mr. Allen was born in Aynor, the son of the late Joseph B. and Mary Ruth Hucks Allen. He was a member of Poplar United Methodist Church, Conway Kiwanis, Woodmen of the World and the American Legion. Mr. Allen attended Presbyterian College and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He retired from Smith Transfer. Mr. Allen was predeceased by two brothers, Eugene and Robert Allen, a sister, Pauline Todd. Surviving are his wife, Azalee B. Allen of Conway; a son, James Albert “Al” Allen, Jr. and his wife, Shanda, of Aynor; two daughters, Cathy A. Archer and her husband, Rick, of Pawleys Island and Mona A. Kinnerly and her husband, Todd, of Columbia; a stepson, Glenn Johnson and his wife, Laurie, of Myrtle Beach; a stepdaughter, Jill K. Dean and her husband, Charlie, of Conway; six grandchildren, Katie and Jordan Slice, Meagan and Joey Allen, Richard and Matthew Archer; stepgrandchildren, Zane and Riley Johnson and Brittney and Macks Dean; two brothers, Wesley Allen of Aynor, Amos Allen of Dillon; two sisters, Annette Richardson of Galivants Ferry and Gladys Spain of Raleigh, NC. Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Wednesday at Poplar United Methodist Church with the Rev. Laurie Beatle and Rev. Jim Hall officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
