Funeral services will be held for Mrs. Janie Bell Phillips Shaw on Monday, February 26, 2007 at 1:00 PM in the Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church, Marion, SC. Dr. Henry McGill, Jr., Pastor. Rev. Joseph Bennett, eulogist. Burial will follow in the Gresham Chapel FWB Church Cemetery, Gresham, SC. Ms. Janie Bell Phillips-Shaw was born on December 10, 1955 to Ms. Elizabeth Phillips and the late Mr. Monroe Phillips in Marion, SC On Wednesday, February 21, 2007 she entered into eternal rest after a brief illness at McLeod Medical Center, Florence, SC She accepted Christ as her personal Savior and later joined Gresham Chapel Freewill Baptist Church. There she served faithfully on the Usher Board, Kitchen Committee, Pulpit Aide, Trustee Board, and she was also a Young Adult Sunday School Teacher and President of the Mass Choir. She was a member of the Friendship Eastern Star Chapter #372 O.E.S. She attended the public schools of Marion County and furthered her education at the Marion County Technical School, Marion, SC She was employed at Anvil Knitwear for twenty-eight years until the closure of the plant. She was later employed at McLeod Medical Center in Medical Records for four years and also a part-time Social Security Administrator. She was joined in Holy Matrimony to Mr. Thomas E. Shaw on November 23, 1974. To this union four children were born. She leaves to cherish fond and loving memory: her mother, Elizabeth Phillips, Marion, SC; three daughters: Thomasenia (Henry) Moore, Norcross, GA; Latashia (Antonia) Mozeak, Marion, SC; Stephanie (Joseph) Sanders of the home; one son: Christopher Shaw, Marion, SC; one special son & daughter: Anthony & Dainta McGill; three grandchildren: Caleb Moore, Joslyn Sanders, and Faith Mozeak; three sisters: Ethelene Davis, Mary Phillips, Marion, SC; Brenda Phillips, Jersey City, NJ; one step-sister: Harriett Wilson, Latta, SC; three brothers: Weldon (Ella) Phillips, Willie (Ollie) Phillips, Marion, SC; Danny Phillips, Dillon, SC; six sisters-in-law: Mary Shaw, Maeola Graves, Marilyn Shaw, Mary Emanuel, Mildred Shaw, Melissa Pendergrass, Gresham, SC; two brothers-in-law: George (Maecile) Shaw, Gresham, SC; Melvin Shaw, Jr., Charleston, SC; A special friend Jimmy Allison and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and supportive friends.
