Rebecca Lipscomb Allen (November 30, 1917 - March 26, 2005) DILLON Services for Rebecca Lipscomb Allen will be held Tuesday at 11:00 A.M. in Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Greenlawn Cemetery. Visitation is 7-9 Monday in the funeral home. Mrs. Allen, 87, died Saturday in McLeod Regional Medical Center-Dillon. Born in Brookford, N.C., November 30, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Lafar Lipscomb and Alice Cottingham Lipscomb. She was the widow of the late William Meritt Allen Jr., was a member of Dillon First Baptist Church and was a member of the American Legion Auxillary. Survivors include her daughters, Rebecca A. Garvin of Gainsville, FLA., Lutie A. Weatherly of Minturn, Susan A. and Tommy Barrineau of Andrews, and Ethel A. and Alvin Nobles of Dillon; sons, Wm. Meritt Allen III and Sheila of Marion and George L. and Audrey O. Allen of Hamer; 14 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Mrs. Allen was preceded in death by her sister, Ret. Col. Mary L. Hamrick, her brother, Ret. Col. Lafar Lipscomb Jr., her sons in law, Legrand Weatherly and Jay E. Garvin Jr., and her great granddaughter, Krisna Allen. submitted by Helen Lane Wiggins
