Byrd, Jessie LATTA -Jessie Powers Byrd, 83, died Thursday, March 10, 2005, at McLeod Medical Center-Dillon. She was born in Rocky Mount, N.C., on May 13, 1921, a daughter of the Robert Andrew and Nettie Hayes Powers. She the widow of Mr. Joe Byrd and member of Sardis Baptist Church. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 12, at Kannadays Funeral Home in Latta with burial in Magnolia Cemetery. She is survived by a son, Russell Eugene Byrd of Latta; daughters, JoAnne (Winston)Singleton of Conway, Mary Ellen (Edward) Richardson of Latta, Linda Carol Smith (fiance Gerald Arnette) of Mebane, N.C., and Marjorie (Connie Ray)Collins of Nichols; sister, Alice Braswell of Denver, N.C.; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
