MARION | Luther Victor Porter Jr., 69, lovingly called ''Fuzzy'' by his family and friends, died Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2006 at McLeod Hospice House in Florence after an illness. Mr. Porter was born Aug. 21, 1937 in Dillon County, a son of the late Luther V. Porter Sr. and the late Mary Jackson Porter. He was a retired pipefitter. Mr. Porter was a Mason, a Shriner and had attained Scottish Rites. Mr. Porter served in the S.C. National Guard. Funeral services will be 4 p.m. Monday, October 2, 2006, at First Baptist Church of Dillon with burial in Greenlawn Cemetery, directed by Kannaday’s Funeral Home of Dillon. Mr. McCutcheon was born September 22, 1924, in Dillon, a son of the late O. Kenneth and May Parler McCutcheon. He married his wife, Elizabeth Patience Alford McCutcheon, in 1948. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Dillon where he taught and was director of Sunday school. He was a World War II Army veteran, a graduate of Presbyterian College, coached and taught at Dillon High School and was the principal of Hamer Canaan School. He sold farm chemicals for Mobile, worked for Canal Wood, worked at Dillon Veneer, owned and operated McCutcheon Hardware, was a Magistrate of Dillon County for 15 years, was a member of the Lion’s Club for over 50 years, a member of Helping Hands of (St. Eugene) McLeod of Dillon and coached American Legion Baseball. Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Elizabeth Alford McCutcheon of the home; son, Owen Kenneth (Janet) McCutcheon Jr. of Dillon; daughters, Anna Katherine McCutcheon (Danny) Bass of Dillon, Elizabeth McCutcheon (Jim) Rozier of Myrtle Beach; sister, Barbara McCutcheon Smith of Fairmont, NC; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
