That year the districts became counties. For example, Colleton District became Colleton County. Also. in 1868 counties were divided into townships. Walterboro, the county seat is in Verdier Township. One of the other townships was Glover Township which included Cottageville and Round O. In NARRATIVES OF COLLETON COUNTY, the late Beulah Glover pointed out an 1868 map of Glover Township indicates Gloverville was one of the important places.
