Hello List, I am looking for any information on the BRANCH family of Colleton Co. Brittain/or Britton BRANCH came to Colleton County in the early 1800's. Brittain's son, my ggg-grandfather WILLIAM BRANCH lived in the county most of his life. Married Sarah Mears 07 January 1816. She was the daughter of John MEARS. William served in the war of 1812 as a private in Capt. Richard Bedon's Co. of the 1st regiment of South Carolina Militia commanded by Colonel William Youngblood. WILLIAM and SARAH's child was JOHN WESLEY BRANCH, b. 14th March 1822. JOHN married Emily (Emma) HOOK 08 Dec 1849 she was from Orangeburg Co., S.C.
