    1. [SCCOLLET] Old Zion Methodist Church Cemetery
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: RAYSOR, RISHER, STOKES Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/ncB.2ACE/1475 Message Board Post: I know I've asked this question on the Bamberg County message board, but I'm not sure if I have on the Colleton board. The discussion of the Shieders made me think of it. I mentioned that Mary Elizabeth Tatum married Jefferson Stokes, son of Peter Stokes and Lucy T. Risher (it was Mary's sister who married James Shieder). Based on my grandmother's notes, I know that at least one of the children of Jefferson Stokes and Mary E. Tatum Stokes (Daisy Margaret Stokes) was buried in the Old Zion Methodist Church Cemetery, now in Bamberg County near the Hunter's Chapel community. The church has been gone for decades, and the cemetery is now surrounded by a pine forest. There are only two well marked and fenced plots: Black and Raysor. There are some older Rhoad/Road graves, too. There is one small fenced plot in which no stones are visible, and a lot of rolling terrain, indicating that something is under the debris. If anyone has any family members that they suspect are buried here, please let me know. This is very close to the Colleton County line.
