Married to Caroline, maiden name unknown, their children: Constantine, b. c. 1847; Julia, b. c. 1849; Virginia, b. c. 1851; Caroline Augusta, b. c. 1856; Sarah Anna, b. c. 1859; James Bartow, b. July 1863 Hendersonville, SC; Victoria, b. c. 1865; and Rosa, b. c. 1867. James and Caroline with five children were listed on the Colleton 1860 census. James left Colleton County after serving in the Civil War, and Caroline and children were on Colleton 1870 census.
