We were fortunate to have a gg aunt that was an accomplished author, and she had started our tree many, many years ago. She passed away over twenty years ago at the age of 90, so we consider her a good source for what she left us. William Edward Gordon, Sr. died about 1817 in SC. Married to Elizabeth Elliott, but do not where. It was said that he was from Scotland, before moving to Charleston SC, but have not been able to prove this yet. They had one son that I know of, but could be more. William Edward Gordon, Jr. b. 1781 in Charleston d. Nov. 1832. Married 13 Dec 1803 to Catherine Ann Belser. They are both buried in Burnt Church Cemetery near Parkers Ferry in Colleton SC. Both Williams were doctors as was all my other grandfathers. William Jr. had four children that I know of. 1. Emma Louise Gordon b SC m. George Conway 2. William F. Gordon 3. Caroline Matilda Gordon m William States Belser 4. Frederick Elliot Gordon I, MD (my gggrandfather) b. 7 Oct 1819 in Charleston d. 1 Aug 1869 m. Sarah Newbold Howard Conway 4 Jan 1846 in Mobile AL. They are both buried at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Mobile. I have a lot of info on them, but my first William is my brick wall. If anyone knows more on these people, would appreciate sharing.
