Joseph Smelie Seabrook's sister Sarah (Seabrook) Richardson may have moved to GA as her brother Smelie Seabrook (1788-1848) and Martha his wife lived in Jones Co. GA and are buried side by side there on private property. Her tombstone says Mrs. M. M. Seabrook age 65 years . The 1850 census for Jones County GA lists a Martha Seabrook, two years after Smelie's death: Martha Seabrook, Head of household, age 50 born SC; Sarah Ralston, 60, born SC. Harriet Jefferson, 36, born GA. I suspect the Sarah Ralston listed above was Sarah (Seabrook) Richardson whose first husband was Thomas Richardson and who married second Mr.Ralston. Dr. John E. Stillwell in the 1880's published Historical and Genealogical Miscellany, Early Settlers of New Jersey and their Descendants. This book included many Seabrook families in the north and the south. He includes the Seabrook family in SC from information he got from Honoria Wilkes Seabrook daughter of Thomas Wilkes Seabrook, Sr in this same Seabrook line, "after Richardson's death she [Martha] married Mr. Ralston of Daniels Island." Could Harriet Jefferson in this same household be her daughter? Let me know your thoughts on this. Dottie Smith
