For approximately 2 days, all list messages to AOL users have been bouncing. I understand that this has been going on intermittently since the new version of AOL came out. Unfortunately, the RootsWeb system will automatically unsubscribe any address after four bounces. If you are an AOL user, I'd contact customer service at AOL and, when this is over, you may need to re-subscribe to the list. Here's the message from the AOL server: 554-(RLY:B1) The information presently available to AOL indicates this server is generating high volumes of member complaints from AOL's member base. I can not tell is it means Plantation or town. It did say of THE Round O. I think the two are buried in the PonPon Chapel of Ease Cemetery aka Brick/Burnt Church in Colleton near Harper's Ferry. Would love to learn more on them and if they were from this plantation Mary

Graves, found in the library in Walterboro, S.C., census info. and Elizabeth's death certificate. This is what I have on my family of James Stanfield. Malachi and Elizabeth Crosby lived in Round O., so I am quite interested in knowing more about the Round O. Plantation. Hill Gruber had a daughter named Mary Elizabeth who married Joseph Bridge. Their daughter Dora married Wiiliam Seabron "Bob" Weeks. Dora and Bob had one daughter and two sons - their daughter Winnie married E. O. Fralix. They were the parents of my grandmother - Ruth Rena Fralix Weathers.

I have a John William Gruber married to Mary Elizabeth Hill. I haven't found anything on a YON, but will continue to go through my papers. Hill and his wife Ann (who I think was a Yon and somehow kin to the Ackermans too). They had a daughter Mary, who married John William Gruber. They were my ancestors. James W. Hill is buried in the Gruber Cemetery - near the Edisto River, right as cross over into Colleton Co. from Dorchester - near Canadys. I would be interested in anything you have on him, as well.

    3. Dear List Members, I really need your help! I am researching Charles Tidyman ("C.T.") LOWNDES (b. 6/28/1806?/08?, d. <1884> m. Sabina Elliott HUGER 12/29 or 31/1829). C.T. LOWNDES may have "owned" one of my ggrandfathers. As C.T. LOWNDES died after 1865, it is unlikely that any former slaves were mentioned in his will or probate papers. Although he resided at 31 East Bay Street in Charleston in 1861, C.T. LOWNDES owned 370 slaves in St. Bartholomew's Parish according to pages 321, 322 and 323 of the 1860 Slave Census for Colleton County. Of the 182 male slaves, 11 were in the age range of my ggrandfather. Several members of the LOWNDES family owned properties in Colleton County. Those properties included plantations known as Oakland, Cedar Bluff, Buncome, and Laurel Springs. C.T. LOWNDES owned Oakland plantation to which he added 1,128.30 acres in 1826, including Anderson Island (not listed in Mills' 1825 Atlas of SC) and a portion of the neighboring Laurel Spring plantation of the BYNAH family (not listed in Mills' 1825 Atlas of SC). Interesting note: It is said that both C. T. LOWNDES and his wife, Sabina Elliott HUGER, were born on the Oakland plantation. MY QUESTIONS: Where was Oakland plantation located? How large was that plantation? Was 1862 the year in which many Colleton County planters began moving to the state's capitol, Columbia? Any help greatly needed and most gratefully accepted. I've been able to piece some together but no luck on my great grandfather James A. Davis 1845-1908 married to Lavina Hutson. For the life of me I can't find which line he comes from. I noticed that there is a J(?) Albert Davis living in the home of George Newton in the 1850 & that there is a Sarah A. Hutson age 15 also living in the household so this leads me to belive this may be him.
