    2. Sullivan, John
    3. I need help finding a few ancestors in Colleton. There seem to be almost no Colleton Cemeteries on-line, and have been told there is opposition to making them available on-line so that Colleton Historical Society can (someday?) make a book with them and sell them. I have looked in "Cemeteries of Upper Colleton County", but Walterboro/mid/lower Colleton County are a problem. Anyone out there have the information available and are willing to do a few look-ups for me? Thank you, John Sullivan Austin, Texas

    2. Jane Hurd
    3. Hi, After I got the SCCOLLET-L working last night, I forwarded a few of the emails I had saved (there's more) but I had to stop because someone who WAS subscribed to the list sent me an email with the happy99.exe virus attached. It's possible that he didn't know his computer was infected but I doubt that because he was complaining about getting the forwards. Anyway...please don't open any attachments that have an .exe file type. I don't know of any incidents that .txt or .ged or .ftm files have carried viruses but in this day it's better to be safe than be sorry. This person is no longer subscribed and he can't resubscribe using the same email address. Keep your computer and files safe. You probably have alot of time invested in your genealogy records. Apologies to anyone who think this warning is unnecessary. We're not all computer savvy - sometimes I feel like a real rookie. Thanks, Jane ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com

    3. Hello folks, I am new to this list and am not sure that I am in the right county. I am seeking information regarding my father-in-law, Wyman Ulmer CREEL. He was born Aug.7, 1892 in ?Branchville? SC. He was inducted into the Army at Cottageville, SC. and served during WW1. He was next found in Sibley County, Iowa where he married Hildegarde Wassmann in Ocheyedan, Iowa.(in 1928) He died in Ocheyedan in January, 1937. . Can anyone tell me how I might get a birth certificate for this man? While the Creel name is not uncommon, the given name surely is rare. A death notice was sent to Wyman's father, whose given name is believed to have been John, and Wyman's only surviving child remembers that it was sent to Branchville and that there was a response. Any information in this regard will be greatly appreciated. Regards, Bella Creel [email protected]

    1. [SCCOLLET] MARRIAGE RECORDS OF WILLIAM STATES LEE FROM 1816-1871
    2. Jane Hurd
    3. I've scanned (and hopefully corrected the errors) another article. http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Hills/4197/lee-marr.html MARRIAGE RECORDS OF WILLIAM STATES LEE FROM 1816-1871 This transcription first appeared in the South Carolina Historical and Genealogical Magazine, Vol X - No 3, July 1909 p. 174 - 180. I believe St. Paul's Parish is the Adams Run area (Charleston County) between Jacksonboro and Edisto Beach (both in Colleton County). Let me know if you disagree about the location of the St. Paul's Parish area. (From Manuscript Loaned by Mr. Townsend Mikell of Edisto Island) Rev. Wm. States Lee, born 1793, died July 28, 1875, was pastor of the Presbyterian Churches at Dorchester and Beech Hill for the six years proceeding 1821, when he received a call to the Presbyterian Church of Edisto Island, where he remained, except for a short period during the War between the States, until his death, a term of fifty-two years. _______________________________________________________________ Get Free Email and Do More On The Web. 2. Jane Hurd
    3. Hi everybody, I checked the stats today and SCCOLLET has 47 subscribers and SCDORCHE has 26. If I did it right, I added the list name to the subject so these emails will be easier to identify. I scanned an article for the Dorchester Anerican Local History page. Although it is written from a historical perspective, it does list (on the second web page) the early residents of Dorchester - some from Massachusetts and some who were believed to be in the area before the Congregationalists arrived. The Town of Dorchester, In South Carolina - A Sketch of Its History This article by Henry A. M. Smith first appeared in the South Carolina Historical and Genealogical Magazine, Vol VI - No 2, April 1905, p. 62 - 95. http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Lake/1968/dorchester/dorc-town.html I've also included supplemental information I found in other issues. My next project is an article on Jacksonboro. Jane Hurd [email protected] _______________________________________________________________ Get Free Email and Do More On The Web.
