I am most interested in any descendants of Joseph and Pearl. I am trying to research all the descendants all the way down from Richmond Nolley Ackerman and Elizabeth Caroline Westbury. Any help would be appreciated. Bettie Berry

Ackerman we are talking about. The one I have information on is listed in the 1910 census as being married to Pearl I. (looks like an I) and they had two children, Stephen W., about 12 and Arthur N. (looks like N), about 9. If this fits with your Joseph, let me know and I will send you what I have immediately. Bettie Berry

Posted on: Colleton Co. SC Queries Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/SC/Colleton/1013 Surname: Rentz, Ruth, Miller ------------------------- Thank you so much for your recommendation. I have E-mailed the State Archives for Grandpa's death certificate (the certificate number of which has been graciously provided by another researcher as well). William Sullivan's mother was Mary, according to an 1870 Broxton Township/Colleton County census my father found in Walterboro, SC. My father states that wife Mary may be buried in Murdaugh Cemetery (I don't know where this is yet). He also may have had a sister Mary. I will keep your family information in mind as I do further research. Noticing your surnames Stone, Polk, and Murdaugh, they are all frequently mentioned throughout a book published in 1998 entitled "Railroads and Sawmills, Varnville, SC 1872-1997." If you're interested and don't already have a copy, let me know and I'll give you info on obtaining one.
Can anyone give me information on an area called Canady's? Perhaps a website? I would like to know when it was first established, etc. It is said to be a small area near Orangeburg and Dorchester but is in Colleton, County, SC. Thanks in advance, Claudia Cannady
Posted on: Colleton Co. SC Queries Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/SC/Colleton/1012 Surname: Stone, Polk, Murdaugh, Rentz ------------------------- I don't have anything concrete for you, but I do have a lead. If your William Sullivan Rentz died in 1933 in S.C., his death certificate should be at the State Archives in Columbia on microfilm. You could write or e-mail them from their web-site and request a search for his death certificate and for it to be sent to you. This would list his mother and father's name as well as his wife's name, the location of his death and the cause of his death. I have found some interesting information on some of my ancestor's death certificates and would strongly recommend this. Incidentally, I have a William S. Rentz in my database, but the dates do not fit for him to be your William Sullivan Rentz, nor does his wife's name. This William Rentz was the son of Aaron Elisha Rentz and Gatsey Samantha Wilson Rentz of Colleton County. If it turns out that William Sullivan is the brother of Aaron Elisha, please let me know and I can see what I have on other Rentz families.
