    1. Re: [SCCHESTERFIELD] Well!
    2. Hi James and other 100 plus members- My guess is that most of you are doing actual research in the courthouses, archives, libraries, and other repositories. I know that we have been very busy at the new location of the Chesterfield Genealogical Research Library. I also know that I am very behind in posting the Cheraw Chronicle/Chesterfield Advertiser Obituaries to this list and I apologize, but I am very behind in everything right now because the research library is so busy. It is not that I think one is more important than the other, but my duties and responsibilities are with the Chesterfield District Chapter, S.C.G.S. and the Chesterfield Genealogical Research Library. Our hours here are Monday 1:00 - 4:00 p.m.; Tuesday through Thursday 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.; Friday 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.; Saturday by chance or by appointment; and the second Sunday of each month (our Genealogy Meeting date) except for the months of May, July, and December. I volunteer on Tuesday through Thursday and other members volunteer on Monday and Friday. While at the library I am constantly busy with Chesterfield District Chapter business (sending "Welcome" packets to members, updating the membership list, forwarding these updates to the S.C.G.S. Treasurer, arranging speakers for our meetings, writing "Thank-You" notes, answering chapter email, and compiling our quarterly newletter, The Chesterfield District Chronicle). But, when researchers come in I stop what I am doing and help them however I possibly can with their research. If I ever get caught up I will get back to the arranging of the donations of materials (by our most generous members) to our library and purchasing other materials with their donations of $$$. Just in the past two weeks we have had members from Colorado, Ohio, North Carolina, Texas, Virginia, Tennessee, and of course South Carolina in to do their family research. Actually, I am so busy helping others with their family research that I do not have time to do my own anymore, but that's okay. I think this is so much more important and I enjoy every minute of it!! One of these days I will get back to my own family research and I will be returning to the Institute of Genealogical and Historical Research at Samford University in Birmingham, AL for the third year so that I can learn how to better help all of YOU when you get the chance to come into the Chesterfield Genealogical Research Library to do YOUR family research.
