    2. Venus Quick Graham Venus Quick Graham, 88, of Cheraw, died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2002 at Chesterfield Convalescent Center. A funeral service was held at 3 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1 from Westfield Baptist Church. Burial followed in Chatham Hill Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were Danny Toler of Washington, D.C., Irvin Quick of Graham, N.C., Joe Streater of Cheraw, Bill Eudy of Monroe, N.C., James Cribb of Morven, N.C., and Jimmy Quick of Conyers, Ga. Born in Marlboro County, Mrs. Graham was a daughter of the late Irvin Quick and Maude Walters Quick, and stepmother Evie Quick. Devoted to her family, community and church, Mrs. Graham was a surrogate mother to her younger siblings after her mother's death. She was an active member of Westside Baptist Church where she was involved in foreign and home missions with the WMU. Sept. 28, 1986, Mrs. Graham received a plaque for her service in teaching Sunday School for 60 years. Surviving are six sisters, Rosa Lide of Columbia, Lillian Lee Stubbs and Eunice Tolar Bryant both of Charleston, Julia Bell White and Vivian Cribb both of Cheraw, and Veda McDevitt of Cheraw and Mansfield, Texas; two sisters-in- law, Ollie Quick and Flreze Kimery both of Cheraw; and a number of nieces and nephews. Norton Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Robert Louis Gordon Sr. Robert Louis Gordon Sr., 70, of Cheraw, died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2002 at Chesterfield General Hospital. A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29 from Pleasant Grove AME Zion Church. Burial followed in Pleasant Grove Church Cemetery. Born in Chesterfield County, Mr. Gordon was a son of the late William and Allean S. Gordon. He attended the public schools of Chesterfield County and spent the majority of his adult years working in Chesterfield County. He was a member of Pleasant Grove AME Zion Church where he served on the Usher Board, Trustee Board and General Claims. He also sang with the Adult Choir, Heavenly Gates, Pleasant Grove Men's Choir, Cashettes, Gospel Commanders, and Trinity and the Genesis. Surviving are his wife, Dorothy M. Gordon; five sons, Robert (Katie) Gordon of Chesterfield, James (Maggie) Gordon of Cheraw, Johnny (Ruthie) Gordon of Charlotte, N.C., Randolph (Eunice) Gordon of Cheraw, and Jerry (Mary) Gordon of Chesterfield; two sisters, Clavia McCoy of Cheraw, and Eunice (Walter) Streater of Durham, N.C.; three brothers, William (Eloise) Gordon of Washington, D.C., John (Shirley) Gordon of Cheraw, and Arlee Gordon of Chesterfield; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; five great-great- grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends, including a motherly friend, Rosa Hillian. A private memorial service was held at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Marlboro County, Bennettsville, S.C. Born in Chesterfield, Mr. Jenkins was a son of the late Delbert H. and Sadie Campbell Jenkins. He was a store clerk. Surviving are a brother, William Jenkins of Bennettsville; two sisters, Brenda Meggs of Bennettsville, and Bonnie Fetner of Hamlet, N.C.; four nieces; and one nephew. A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4 from House of Praise Church. Burial followed in Prince of Peace Church Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Chesterfield County, P.O. Box 293, Chesterfield, S.C. 29709. Born in Cheraw, Mr. Presnell was a son of the Rev. Joseph Martin Presnell and Martha Brown Roberts. He was a concrete finisher, member of Prince of Peace Church and was lead singer with the Malloy Brothers Gospel Singers. Surviving are his wife, Lisa Brock Presnell of the home; a son, Lauren Presnell of Charleston; his father and stepmother, Thelma Presnell, of Cheraw; his mother of Cheraw; five brothers, Joseph M. Presnell Jr. of Detroit, Mich., Thomas Presnell, Michael Presnell, David Presnell and Bobby Presnell, all of Cheraw; four sisters, Fay Hall, Kay Driggers, Sara Cato and Amy Blakenship, all of Cheraw. A funeral service was held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6 from First Alliance Church in Raleigh, N.C. Burial followed in Rocky Mount Memorial Park, Rocky Mount, N.C. She was a nail technician at A Natural Nail. Surviving are her fiance, James Arlie "Jamie" McGarvey; her parents, Annette Bonner Winstead and her husband, Tony, of Raleigh, N.C., Robert Preston Nolan and his wife, Billie, of Society Hill; brothers, Robbie Nolan of Society Hill, Charlie Winstead of Raleigh, N.C., Neal Nolan of Cheraw, and Brandon Nolan of Society Hill; maternal grandfather, Frank Bonner and his wife, Grace, of Aurora; and her paternal grandfather, Preston Nolan of Society Hill. She was preceded in death by her grandmothers, Anne Boyette Winstead and Winnie Mae Nolan. L. Harold Poole Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements.
