I have seen the name as both Meadows or Meaders/Meadors, and what I've been told is that the Meadows/Meadors family lived near the Griggs land in Anson County. And while there's definitely confusion as to which Rushing family that Fanny belongs to (assuming that it can ever be proven that she *is* a Rushing <g>), there is a property sale from Noah Rushing to John Grigg in 1806. The property at the north fork of Thompson's Creek is described as "part of a survey granted to William Rushing Senr. part of a survey granted to Roland Rushing the whole of one survey granted to me the Sd. Noah Rushing." The sale was witnessed by James Ratliff and Jason Meadors. I don't have details on other marriages between the Griggs and the Meadows/Meadors family, but it would almost surprise me if there weren't others out there. From my research on the Griggs family, it seems like whenever they married one person in a family, there'd be another half dozen or more marriages within the family <g>. Howdy, ma'am I don't know if this will be of any help to you, or not. There are no families by any variation of the surname in Lancaster County for the 1880 Census.
