Mr. Steele served as former Town Judge, County Attorney and Public Defender. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Chesterfield Baptist Church, where he served as former Chairman of Deacons, Trustee, Sunday School teacher and member of the Building Committee. Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Mary Smith Steele of the home; sons, Steven Steele of Richmond, Va., Russell Steele and wife Lisa of Florence; daughter, Cynthia Steele Nowak and husband Paul of Littleton, Colo.; grandsons, Andrew Nowak, Joseph Nowak, Samuel Steele, Jackson Steele; sister, Dorothy Rowell of Lancaster.
