    2. Gene David Burr Gene David Burr, 65, of Mt. Croghan, died Monday, Jan. 7, 2002. A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9 from Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in Cross Roads Baptist Church Cemetery. Born in Mt. Croghan, Mr. Burr was a son of the late Furman Dolphis and Bertha Mae Steen Burr. He was owner and operator of Gene Burr Landscaping & Lawn Maintenance. Surviving are four sons, Kenneth Burr of Columbia, Mike Burr of Gainsville, Fla., Gerald Burr of Pageland, and Thomas Burr of Mt. Croghan; one daughter, Tammy Burr of Mt. Croghan; a stepdaughter, Patricia Morgan of Mt. Croghan; a sister, Viola (Don) Outen of Ruby; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Willie Faye Sellers. A funeral service was held a 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9 from Cross Roads Baptist Church. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to Cross Roads Church, 4963 Cross Roads Church Road, Ruby, S.C. 29741. Born in Black Mountain, N.C., Mrs. Tucker was a daughter of the late Harley and Maude Rollings Burgess. She was a homemaker and member of Cross Roads Baptist Church. She was first married to the late James Preston Gulledge and then to the late Dory Tucker. Surviving are two sons, Charles P. Gulledge of Ruby and Billy Gulledge of Kannapolis, N.C.; three daughters, Doris G. Johnson of Ruby, Angie Miller and Loretta Miller both of Salisbury, N.C.; a brother, Everette Burgess of Black Mountain, N.C.; a sister, Betty Brewer of Pageland; and nine grandchildren. Born in Marlboro County, Mrs. Rayfield was a daughter of the late James Bascomb and Beulah Stubbs Clark. She was a retired telephone operator with Southern Bell, a member of the Bell South Pioneers and was a former receptionist with Chesterfield-Marlboro Technical College. She was a member of Thompson Creek Baptist Church and attended Christ United Methodist Church. Surviving are a brother, Daniel P. Clark of Clio; three sisters, Anita C. Jennings and Eunice C. McCaskill both of Clio, and Lois C. Duncan of Laurinburg, N.C.; and a number of nieces and nephews. A funeral service was held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 20 from Norton Funeral Home. Interment followed in Old St. David's Cemetery. Born in Marlboro County, Mrs. Adams was a daughter of the late Julius Clarence and Maggie Brigman Grant and the wife of the late Andrew Jackson Adams. Surviving are two daughters, Jackie Adams McDougald of Cheraw and Kathryn Adams Kimery of Charlotte, N.C.; a sister, Louise Grant Frazier of Cheraw; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. A funeral service was held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9 from Sandy Plains United Methodist Church in Morven, N.C., with the Rev. Yvonne Hechler officiating. Interment followed in New Hope United Methodist Church Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Sandy Plains United Methodist Church, Route 3, Box 110-A, Wadesboro, N.C. 28170, or Lillie Bennett Nursing Home Center Council, 500 Morven Road, Wadesboro, N.C. 28170. Born in Anson County, N.C., Mr. Trexler was a son of the late Willie Erie and Mary Fannie Short Trexler. He was a farmer, had been in automobile sales, and was a member of Sandy Plains United Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Ruby Steele Trexler; three daughters, Carolyn T. (Larry) Taylor of Wadesboro, N.C., Lorrie T. (Ken) Lemmonds of Monroe, N.C., and Nancy T. (Mike) Taylor of Fort Mill; a grandson, Larry Douglas (Stephanie) Williams Jr. of Wadesboro, N.C.; a brother, T.C. Trexler of Wadesboro, N.C.; four step-grandchildren; and seven step-great-grandchildren. A funeral service was held Friday, Dec. 21 from Wesley United Methodist Church. Burial followed in Chatham Hill Memorial Gardens. Born in Rockingham, N.C., Mr. Ratliff was a son of the late Ernest Hall and Sophie Ratliff Skipper. Surviving are his wife, Ruth Singleton Ratliff; two daughters, Ida G. Ratliff and Ruth (Danny) Jackson, both of Cheraw; one son, Stanley Stroman of New York; four grandchildren, Amber Jackson, Pam (Carlo) Bowen, Stephanie (Roderick) Bright and Kim Stroman; one great-grandson, Roderick Bright Jr.; one brother, Ernest (Pearline) Diggs of Rockingham, N.C.; six aunts; two uncles; and a host of other relatives and friends. Morris Funeral Cottage was in charge of arrangements.
