Good Morning Charles: Thank you very much for your nice reply to my inquiry. It was nice of you to take the time to do that. I appreciate your offer to assist me with some research in Lancaster County, SC. on my gggggrandfather KNIGHT KNIGHT. The name KNIGHT KNIGHT is unusual; however, I have been able to find that name in various census records and I was also able to get the pension file of KNIGHT KNIGHT for the American Revolutionary War. So, it appears that it is a valid name. Because you are willing to assist me in researching KNIGHT KNIGHT, I'll share with you some of the information I have that may assist you in your search. At this point, I am working with handwritten notes of a man who worked on this many years ago and has since deceased, so I don't have documentation for the results he has noted. I do know that KNIGHT KNIGHT was born about 1750 because his pension file and would support that. I'm not sure he was born in Lancaster Co., SC. KNIGHT KNIGHT enlisted in the Revolutionary War in 1777 at Charleston, S.C. After the War he returned to Lancaster County, SC where we find him in the 1790 census with seven other NIGHTS. He must have been married some time before, because his household listed: White males 16 and above: 2 (born 1774 or earlier) White males under 16: 4 (born 1774-1790) White females: 2 (all ages) Just two households away was the Edmund McKinney family. McKinney was a landowner in the Lick Creek area and in one land transaction adjacent to his land, a John Knight was a witness. KNIGHT KNIGHT (NIGHT NIGHT) sold a parcel of land on Flat Creek in 1797, a creek mentioned in land transactions with Richard Knight and John Knight. In 1802 KNIGHT KNIGHT lived on Big Linches Creek (or Lynches Creek), the names of Richard and Thomas Knight are mentioned. KNIGHT KNIGHT was in the census records of 1790 and 1800. In 1810 he shows up in Chestefield County where he is noted in a land sale in 1797. In the 1820 census, he was in Christian County, Kentucky. I am eager to learn of any additional information you may develop that my assist me in my search. Thank you very much. Wendell Haack Iowa whaack2344@aol.com
