Frances P. Hayes Frances P. Hayes, 38, of Cheraw, died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2002 at home. A funeral service was held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Jan.15 from Faith Presbyterian Church. Phillips and the late Jack Phillips. She was a member of Faith Presbyterian Church. She was a graduate of Frances Marion University with a B.S. in chemistry and biology and was a member of the Physics Society. She had received a class award from Dale Carnagie, and was a member of the Cheraw after 5 Club. Surviving are her husband, Julian Ray Hayes of Cheraw; a daughter, Julia Louise Hayes of Cheraw; and her mother of Kingstree. Born in Marlboro County, Mr. Sweatt was a son of the late Robert L. Sweatt and Mary Leviner Sweatt. He was retired from Modern Cleaners and was a member of White's Creek Free-Will Baptist Church. Surviving are his father of Chesterfield; his mother of Ruby; a sister, Dr. Karen G. Fritz of Atlanta, Ga.; two uncles, Don Sellers of Ruby and Dale (Susie) Odom of Ruby; a nephew, Kyle Fritz of Birmingham, Ala.; and one cousin, Michael Odom of Ruby. He was preceded in death by a sister, Jan Lynn Odom. Born in Chesterfield County, Mr. Lewis was a son of the late William Pence and Martha Elizabeth Davidson Lewis. He was a retired textile employee and member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Surviving are a number of nieces and nephews, including his caregivers, nephew Jack Wallace and his wife, Barbara, of Cheraw. He was preceded in death by a half-sister, Alene Davidson. A funeral service was held Thursday, Jan. 10 from Sweet Home Missionary Baptist Church in Ruby. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Born in Chesterfield, Mr. Little was a son of the late Homer Preston Little and Magnolia Streater Little. He was a brick mason by trade and a member of New Zion Second Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife of 26 years, Louise Little; three sons, John "Mookie" Little of Chesterfield, Tony Little of Orlando, Fla., and James T. Little Jr. of New Haven, Conn.; two daughters, Sandra Little of Chesterfield, and Angela Denise (James) Lowe of New Haven, Conn.; two step-daughters, Wilhelmina "Casper" Melton (Kelvin) MacFarland and Lisa Moore, both of Cheraw; two brothers, Earl (Dottie) Little of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Charles Ray (Lottie) Little of Chesterfield; sisters, Nancy (David) Pewu of Columbia, Bernice (Griffin) Jowers, Magnolia Hodges, Bessie Elizabeth Little, and Irene (Cubie) Shields, all of Cheraw; 15 grandchildren, Marcus and Mario Goynew, Erica Teamer, Terrell, Tiara, Jamal, James T. A funeral service was held Monday, Jan. 14 from Morris Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Corbett of Pee Dee Union Baptist Church officiating. Burial followed in Sandhills Cemetery, formerly Montrose. A son of Dean and Marybelle McCray, Mr. McCray moved to Florida in the early 1950s and was most recently a resident of Lakeshore Nursing Home in Crescent City, Fla. He worked most of his life in agriculture and was employed with Abe Jones Farms in Florida. He also worked for a railroad right-of-way clearing company. Surviving are a sister, Mary Louise Whitfield of Cheraw; brothers, Bobby McCray of Phoenix, Az., and Leroy McCray of Columbia; three sisters-in-law, Lucy McCray of Phoenix, Az., Lila McCray of Columbia, and Marthenia McCray of Washington, D.C.; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Susie; his parents, two brothers, Willie and James; and a sister, Helen. Morris Funeral Cottage was in charge of arrangements.
