Jackson Huntley "Jack" Douglass Jackson Huntley "Jack" Douglass, 81, of Cheraw, died Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2002 at his residence. A funeral service was held at 3 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11 from North Cheraw Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Williams officiating. Interment followed in Chatham Hills Memorial Garden. Born in Chesterfield County, Mr. Douglass was a son of the late Daniel F. Douglass and Blanche Huntley Douglass. During World War II he served in the U.S. Army. He was owner/operator of Triangle Gulf and Palmetto Gulf Service Stations in Cheraw. He was a Mason for 50 years, and was a member of North Cheraw Baptist Church where he served as an usher and Sunday School class officer. Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Juliette White Douglass of the home; and a son, Ronnie Lynn Douglass of Cheraw. He was preceded in death by a son, Jackie Douglass; a daughter, Donna Jean Douglass; four brothers, Thomas Douglass, Fred Douglass, Bruce Douglass and Wilson Douglass; and two sisters, Louise Hancock and Lottie Boan. Born in Society Hill, Miss Cole was the eldest child of the late Marjorie Cole and John Henry Aiken. She left Cheraw at a very early age, but returned periodically. Surviving are two aunts, Pearlie Cole Echols of Philadelphia, Pa., and Nellie McNeil of Rockingham, N.C.; an uncle, Robert L. Cole of Charlotte, N.C.; and a number of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by a sister, Cynthia Marie Evans. Born in Cheraw, Mr. McCaskill was a son of Hallie McCaskill and the late James McCaskill. He attended public schools in Cheraw, and was married to the late Gladys Campbell. At an early age he moved to Connecticut where he worked for the City of Hartford. Surviving are his children, Alphonso McCaskill, Stephanie (Greg) McCaskill, Patricia McCaskill, Kenneth McCaskill and a stepson, Jerome Campbell, all of Hartford Conn.; 27 grandchildren; a special granddaughter, Natasha Lucas; 15 great-grandchildren; a brother, James D. (Ethel) McCaskill of Cheraw; and a number of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by a son, Lushire McCaskill of Hartford, Conn. A funeral service was held from Fork Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Inez, N.C. Burial followed in Warrenton, N.C. Born in Chesterfield, Mr. Hawkins was a son of the late Jerald and Inez McQueen Hawkins. He attended the public schools of Chesterfield County, after which he moved to Brooklyn, N.Y. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #3 with the 33rd Degree. He was married to the late Maggie Marie Hawkins for 44 years. He was a truck driver for most of his life and was retired from Rienzi & Sons where he had worked for 12 years. Surviving are five sons, Rommie Sellers, Earl Hawkins, Jerome "Larry" Hawkins, Glen Hawkins and Ronald Hawkins; three daughters, Genell Hawkins, Darlene Hawkins and Inez Hawkins; 10 grandchildren, Jerome (Keri) Hawkins Jr., Tennille Hawkins, Christopher Hawkins, Candace Hawkins, Durell Hawkins, Amanda Hawkins, Crystal Hawkins, Glen Trevonte Hawkins, Cameron Hawkins and Deaven Hawkins; two great-grandchildren, Jusiah Hawkins and Aleigha Hawkins; two daughters-in- law, Daphne Hawkins and Cheryl Hawkins; three brothers, Tommy Hawkins, Ray Hawkins and Fuller Gattison; six sisters, Marjorie Campbell, Jeanette Johnson, Annie Rogers, Sandra Wilkins, Debra Harrell and Bonnie Crummy; and a host of other relatives and friends. A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 29 from Faith Presbyterian Church, Cheraw. A native of Lebanon, Pa., Mrs. Shott moved to Cheraw in 1991. She was a 1942 graduate of Lebanon High School and retired from the Fairfax, Va. County Public School System. She was a member of Faith Presbyterian Church. Surviving are two sons, John B. Shott II of Alexandria, Va., and Brian A. Shott of Charlottesville, Va.; a daughter, Caroline M. Shaw of Toney, Ala.; a brother, Richard Atkins of Arkansas; a sister, Gladys Sherrid of Lebanon, Pa.; and four grandchildren. Born in Anson County, N.C., Mr. Privette was a son of Ruth Jordan Privette and the late Levine I. Privette.
