    1. [SCCHESTERFIELD] Melton Family
    2. Jim
    3. Need help in finding information on the T. F. Melton family. I think T. F. may have been Thomas Frank. He is enumerated in the 1870 census in the Courthouse TWP, age 20, pg. 306. He married Charlotte Elizabeth Steen and had four children, George C. Melton, Lillie Louise Melton (m: (1) Jesse Turner, (2)Earnest Edward Gulledge), Martha R. Melton (m: Grafton Woodward), and Eva Rosabell Melton (m: Kelly Odom). T. F. was born abt 1851, d. 13 July 1924 and is buried with his wife at Crossroads Baptist Church Cemetery. I know that the Melton and Steen surnames are plentiful in Chesterfield but I can't seem to make a good connection with older or younger generations. Really do need some help. These are gggrand parents and would like to know them and their families a little better. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? I have seen the name as both Meadows or Meaders/Meadors, and what I've been told is that the Meadows/Meadors family lived near the Griggs land in Anson County. And while there's definitely confusion as to which Rushing family that Fanny belongs to (assuming that it can ever be proven that she *is* a Rushing <g>), there is a property sale from Noah Rushing to John Grigg in 1806. The property at the north fork of Thompson's Creek is described as "part of a survey granted to William Rushing Senr. part of a survey granted to Roland Rushing the whole of one survey granted to me the Sd. Noah Rushing." The sale was witnessed by James Ratliff and Jason Meadors. I don't have details on other marriages between the Griggs and the Meadows/Meadors family, but it would almost surprise me if there weren't others out there. From my research on the Griggs family, it seems like whenever they married one person in a family, there'd be another half dozen or more marriages within the family <g>. Man, that place is FULL of Rollins, but none of them seemed to match up to the people you were looking for. I did find another cemetery in the area, Fork Creek Methodist Church, established 1784. There are bunches of Rollins, Rawlins, etc. there, too, but I had my kids in the car and couldn't spend any time there to go through them. What you need is a full survey of all Rollins, et al. in those cemeteries, and it would take me 2 full days or more to do it. I don't guess you know what religion they were at the time? And I hate to have to ask, but are you looking for white or black people? As you probably know, there aren't many mixed cemeteries from back then...it could narrow down the search significantly! Sorry I haven't been much help so far...let me know what else I can do to help! julie frankle saabist@earthlink.net
