I am researching my gggggrandfather KNIGHT KNIGHT. The name KNIGHT KNIGHT is unusual; however, I have been able to find that name in various census records and I was also able to get the pension file of KNIGHT KNIGHT for the American Revolutionary War. He enlisted in 1777 at Charleston, SC. KNIGHT KNIGHT's Revolutionary War Pension file indicates he was born 1750 in what is now Lancaster County, South Carolina. After the war, he returned to Lancaster County, South Carolina where we find him in the 1790 census with seven other KNIGHTs. He is shown as NIGHT NIGHT in that census. Two household away was the EDMUND McKINNEY family. McKinney was a landowner in the Lick Creek area and in one land transaction to his land, a John Knight was a witness. KNIGHT KNIGHT owned a parcel of land on Flat Creek in 1797. In 1802 KNIGHT KNIGHT lived on Big Linches Creek, (or Lynches Creek), the names of Richard and Thomas Knight are mentioned. In 1810 KNIGHT KNIGHT shows up in Chesterfield County, SC. I am eager to correspond with anyone who has, or is, researching these KNIGHT FAMILIES and exchange information. I had some ancestors who were from Chesterfield, Marlboro and the surrrounding area. I thought they had dropped off the face of the earth until someone sent me info on their whereabouts, which turned out to be Gibson Co., TN. Everytime I turn around , I have found another family that migrated to that area. The migration was around 1830. I have just found a Sheriff's Tax list for that year, and some of the people I was looking for are on the list. Thought I would share it with all of you. Hope it helps you as much as it has me. http://www.rootsweb.com/~tngibson/sheriffList/sheriff-end.txt And while I am on the subject of Chesterfield Co., I just found out that back in 1782, a group of Baptist from the old Welsh Neck Church broke away and formed the Cheraw Hill Baptist church that worshiped at St. David's for nearly thirty years. Even though St. David's was originally built as an Anglican church, it rarely ever had a minister. One of those early Baptist members , Phillip Pledger is buried in the churchyard, now under the extension at the back of the church. Just before he died, he had given two acres of land for a new Baptist church back in Marlboro near his Sawmill. Joanne H. NC harleyclan@coastalnet.com

Try contacting John Teel at jrteel@dellepro.com --he was very helpful to me in trying to find out about the Teel/Teals. She does show up, along with her husband, in a deed in Anson County (http://www.ghg.net/sellers/sellers/html/page2.html) in January of 1818, showing her as the daughter of William, when she and her husband, her sister Nancy Buchanan and her husband and their brother, Joshua Teel, sold Benjamin Teel their shares in their father's land on Jones Creek in Anson County NC. The 1820 Census index for Anson County NC shows a Swaner on p. 52, the 1830 has a Swanner on p. 53, 1840 has Swanner on p. 93, and 1850 shows a Swaner on p. 190 A and 222B. There is no variant of the name in the census index for Anson in 1810. I am afraid I don't have access to the census records themselves for these years, so I can't help with whether these are indeed James and Lydia. Maybe this will help a little--good luck, Karen

Hopefully everything we be back on track by the end of March. In the meantime, if you see any helpful Leprechauns out there, please send them my way.

I am searching for descendants of KNIGHT KNIGHT, sometimes spelled NIGHT NIGHT, or NIGHT KNIGHT. KNIGHT KNIGHT shows up in the 1790 and 1800 census of Lancaster County, SC. KNIGHT KNIGHT sold a parcel of land on Flat Creek in 1797, a creek mentioned in land transactions with Richard Knight and John Knight. In 1802 Knight Knight lived on big Lynches Creek and in this transaction the names of Richard Knight and Thomas Knight are mentioned. I am eager to be in contact with someone who has researched these families to exchange and compare information. Wendell Haack IOWA
