The Chester County name I'm researching is McClerkin / McClurkin / McLurkin One group arrived with the Rev. Martin in 1772, but there was apparently already one McClurkin in the area prior to that. My Elizabeth McClurkin, b in SC about 1776, may have been a daughter of one of the 1772 group. Elizabeth married Micajah C Lindsey in either SC or NC. Her mother was named Jane. An earlier researcher (Lois Meyer) believed her maiden name to be Dunwoody, and first thought she married a James McClurkin, then decided it was Richard. I want to determine just who Elizabeth's parents were! There were other daughters, too: Nancy, Hester, Vesta and Jane. All moved to Alabama with their mother and with Nancy's and Hester's husbands, Robert and Zachariah Waldrop. Elizabeth and Micajah Lindsey ended up in Mississippi. Margaret Lindsey Smith
