Hi, For those of us who live far away from primary sources, Ancestry.com is a necessary resource. Compared to the cost of traveling to the sites, it's minimal. BUT, I am concerned that they seem to be consolidating some records in so-called "new" databases and charging new fees for access. Yes, some of the materials in the new Family History database are new but many have previously been accessible as part of the general membership. SC Dept of Archives and History do a great job of providing research at a cost. My only problem with them is that they have a base charge that makes ordering 3 pages of copies cost $20. York County Historical Society has done the best job of providing copies of court records at a minimal cost. York County moved all of their old land/probate/estate records and related court cases to the Historical Museum. They have a very use-friendly website. I can do look-ups in the Chester County Tombstone Records, Hopewell Church A.R.P Cemetery and Church records, as I own copies of these books. Let me know if I can be of help. I am sure you have seen some of them but some may be new. I belong to Ancestry.com and have for years. It is well worth the money. There are several ways to search with google. You might try Chester County, SC archives in quotes. I hope this will help you. Take care, Judy Minihan ______________________________
