In the Hart Family papers at the Historical Center of York County I find that my g-g-grandfather Abraham G. Smith (9 Jan 1789-6 Jul 1851) married Ruth Brown Taliaferro (1 Mar 1803-21 Oct 1876). After his death she married about 1854 a cousin, William Moore, who d. 18 Oct 1859. Her parents are said to be William Taliaferro (b. ?, d.abt. 1817) who married abt1801-1802 Margaret Moore (20 Sept 1785-after1846). Margaret Moore Taliaferro married second William Clarke, who d. 1845. William Moore and Margaret Moore are descendants in the Geyan or Guyon Moore family of western York Co SC. Additionally, William Taliaferro is said to be the son of Richard Taliaferro (23 May 1759 Amherst VA - ?14 May 1806 York Dist SC) and Mildred Powell (23 May 1762 - aft 1840 Pickens Co. AL), who came from Amherst Co VA after the Revolutionary War. Richard was the first Clerk of the newly formed Chester County Court in 1885 and later lived in York Co. I am trying to document a marriage between William Taliaferro and Margaret Moore, as well as William Taliaferro's parentage. Any thoughts, any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
