    1. Martha Gaston - Joseph Gaston
    2. <Connie (also a Justice John Gaston descendant through his daughter Martha who married her probably cousin Joseph Gaston)> Hello Connie: As another descendant of Justice John Gaston, I am interested in your information on Joseph Gaston, husband of Martha Gaston (1741 - 1826), daughter of Justice John. How does this Joseph Gaston fit into the Gaston lineage in the Carolinas? Can you tell us anything about him? (Parents, dates, location....?) Nancy Sicotte

He married MARTHA GASTON6,7 Abt. 1762 in Chester County, South Carolina, daughter of JOHN GASTON and ESTHER WAUGH. She was born Jun 11, 1741 in Ireland or South Carolina or Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, and died Mar 04, 1826 in Chester County, South Carolina. Notes for JOSEPH GASTON (my 5th great grandfather): Joseph is his wife's second cousin once removed. He suffered all the horrors of a famine on board ship while crossing the Atlantic. Three brothers, Joseph, Robert and Matthew Gaston, said to be great grandsons of the first Irish William, emigrated to South Carolina with their sister, Jane Gaston Walker, leaving a fourth brother, Alexander, in Ireland, who was born about 1750 and died about 1840. Of these, Joseph married Martha Gaston, daughter of Justice John Gaston, above. He was a member of the Fishing Creek Presbyterian Church of Chester County, South Carolina. Joseph and Martha were visited by their pastor, Reverend John Simpson in 1775 or 1776. A slave owner.
