Dear List Members: For those of you that have not heard, a new book is out , written by William J. Watson (published by Broken Lance Enterprises of Stroudsburg, PA) entitled Brother William's War. (214pp.) This book is gleaned from the Civil War journals of William Coleman of Chester SC, who served in the 6th South Carolina Volunteer's Infantry, Army of Northern Virginia. There are many, many Chester County family names mentioned in the book, and it is probably one of the best-written Civil War books I have ever read. This book is available in bookstores in the region. (I got mine at the Book Rack in Rock Hill, SC 803-327-9028) The book is very reasonably priced there at $11.00. I am not related to the "Red Headed" Colemans of Chester County (author's description, not mine) , but many of you may be, and this is an opportunity to read the story from a soldier's perspective and to really see and feel what Chester and the surrounding County was like in the war years of 1861-1865. I highly recommend it!! In fact, I finished it in two nights, it was so interesting. Maybe some other list members will know of other sources - I know none outside the Chester-York Co. area I reside in, but I bet Book Rack would ship you one. I included their number above. Hope this will interest you. Mike McGarity Chester County List Administrator
