Misc. Obituaries Sept. 17, 1940 Funeral services for RICHARD MOORE, 72, Campobello farmer who died Monday at the General hospital will be conducted this afternoon at the Fairforest Bapt. church. Active pallbearers; HOMER WATERS, R.E. WATERS, IRA BROOM, PAUL BALLENGER, ANDREW JONES and J.R. MARTIN. MR. MOORE is survived by his wife; MRS. JULIA MOORE; 3 sons, BRAMLETT MOORE, Inman, TOM MOORE, Valley Falls, and ROWLAND JONES, Inman; 4 daughters, MRS. MARY CHARLES, Inman, MRS. NINA STO?T, Valley Falls, MRS. JULIA THOMAS, Inman, and MRS. ANNIE WEATHERS, Boiling Springs; a brother, JACK W. MOORE, Mill Springs, N.C., and 2 sisters, MRS. SARA JANE KIRBY, Gaffney and MRS. LIZZIE JACKSON, Tucapau. 27 grandchildren and 3 gt. grandchildren . Seawright funeral home of Inman in charge. --- 1939 Chester, March 8- Dr. SAMUEL BOSTON LATHAN, 96, Confederate veteran died at his home on Saluda street here today, following an illness of some time. The funeral will be conducted tomorrow at the Chester Associate Reformed Presbyterian church. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery. DR. LATHAN was the last surviving Confederate veteran in Chester county. He was born about a mile east of Blackstock in Fairfield county, a son of the late SAMUEL MARTIN LATHAN and the late MRS. MARTHA PATTERSON LATHAN. DR. LATHAN was the oldest Royal Arch Mason in S.C., having affiliated with the lodge in 1872.... He married MISS SUSAN A. MEEK , Oct. 22, 1874. She died in Sept., 1924. Surviving are two sons, JAMES M. LATHAN and SAMUEL ROBERT LATHAN; 2 daughters, MRS. R.B.
