Listers, I am looking for the proper "slot" (family) for my John POLK, born about 1810/12 in York District, S.C.,died after the 1850 census.(It is possible, of course, that he left the state or that he was skipped by the enumerator, but he doesn't show up again.) I believe that he married first about 1829 (probably in Chester County,S.C.),Mary DANIELS, daughter of David and Mary Ann DANIELS of the Fishing Creek area of Chester County.(Their neighrbors were James FERGUSON,James LEE and ? MOBLEY.) John and Mary DANIELS POLK had one known (to me) child, Elizabeth POLK, born May 1830, died after 1900,probably never married.Mary DANIELS POLK died before Sept 1834, as per the estate papers of her mother, Mary Ann DANIELS. Mary DANIELS POLK had 3 sisters: Harriet DANIELS who married Reuben DENNIS Cynthia DANIELS who married Charles S. CLINE Artemesia DANIELS who was unmarried at the time her mother's will was made John POLK probably remarried at least once, perhaps twice, and fathered at least 4 more children: William, born ca 1836, died after 1900 Mary, born Feb 1837,died after 1900,married Uriah J.
