I was the coordinator for the Chester County site for the past 3 years, but had to give it up for personal reasons. I am not sure why Victoria is not answering your emails, and it seems strange to me that she has not contacted you in reference to this. She has the responsibility for 48 county coordinators and I know she is stretched to the limit sometimes. Be warned that adopting a county is a very time-consuming job. You will receive emails (like I did - up to 100 a day) that may require your personal attention. You will receive hate emails, because you cannot answer individual questions concerning other people's ancestors. You need to know html programming inside and out so that you can maintain and update your web pages. You will have to constantly scour and research in order to keep your pages and information up to date and interesting. You may have to re-research when you post information that another researcher indicates is in error. I'm not complaining, because I believe I made many more friends than enemies during my tenure as Chester coordinator. But, it's almost impossible to do if you have a full time job out in the world. It is perfect for someone who has retired or is stay-at-home for whatever reason. The benefits and friendships far outweigh the downside, but you must be prepared for the downside - if you have ever worked in the service industry ( restaurants, retail, hotels) you know what working for the public is like. I agree, Chester needs an active coordinator. The county has so much history that we have not even began to tap yet, that it is a shame to let it sit there and do nothing. I have copied the Chester mail list on this, and will try and contact her through nationals for you. Maybe someone has a new email address for her or can shed some light on what's up with Victoria.
