Just a reminder that the Chester Genealogical Society Annual Meeting is THIS Saturday, August 1st, 2009 at 1 pm at the Wagon Wheel restaurant in Fort Lawn SC.(5724 Lancaster Hwy,Fort Lawn, SC 29714 (803) 872-4654) I'm not sure what the programme is about, but I do know that 1) Brent Holcombe will be there with his new book (and maybe some of his other ones?) the first volume of marriage/death notices from the Presbyterian newspapers of SC. and 2) I think they will have cd-roms for sale of all the past issues of the Chester Genealogical Society Quarterly for $50..I think that's right. Some one please correct me if I'm mistaken. If this is so, I think it would be searchable!! whoo hoooo!! Fred Powell, Chester, SC

The Chester Bulletins on CD are not searchable, but many [not all] of the issues have a name index in the back. Most of the Queries are not indexed, but the last names are given in caps and this is sufficient for locating family lines and family researchers. The "Complete Index of Back Issues of the Bulletin's Articles" offered by the Society is [as it says] an index of articles and the only names that are indexed are those for which an article has been written. Nevertheless, these bulletins are VERY helpful and a lot of family genealogies are given. I considered my money to have been well spent. I tried to index these bulletins, but with minimal success. Perhaps a more current version of Adobe Professional would do the job; my version is an old one. If I lived closer, I'd attend the meeting. Please email me with info or contact persons at the meeting who are researching any of the Millers of Colonial times. I'm glad to share what little I've learned.
