He was married to Agnes Cockrell. There were several other Liles/Lyles in the Chester/Fairfield Co SC area who arrived there circa 1740, the first Anglo settlers in the up country of SC, and we match them identically with DNA. However, I have not been able to document John's father. We do know though, that this group of Liles came from Brunswick Co. Va and we know the names of a small group of Liles that most likely were his ancestors. The Cockrells also came from VA to Chester Co SC in the mid 1700's and descendents still reside there today as do descendents of the Liles.
