    3. In attempting to establish the definite tracks of the Colonial roads around the time of the American Revolution, researcher Ken Shelton is trying to tie down the actual site of Lee's Mill which traditionally is located just below the Chester County line in Fairfield on Two Creek Rd. The deeds he is interested in, taken from the online SCDAH site are below, along with some pertinent questions for anyone in the know: Grant of 400 acres to Jacob Bowers, surveyed 5 Sept 1758, on Bowers Mill Creek, sold to John Lee in 1767 Grant of 250 acres to Jacob Cassell, surveyed 6 Feb 1759, on Little River, sold to John Lee in 1762 Grant of 150 acres to John Lee, surveyed 4 Feb 1767, on Little River, bound by Jacob Bowers and Jacob Cassell John Lee's will, which is digital imaged online, contains a somewhat rambling and confusing inventory of these three tracts, and he gives some to his widow as a life interest, and then subdivides them out to sons. He explicitely states, though, that the part to the widow has his mill on it. Which brings up another question I have -- is Bowers Mill Creek the same as what is later called Lee's Creek, and is Lee's Mill actually the 2nd iteration of what was Jacob Bowers' Mill and John Lee bought out the interest when he bought Jacob Bowers' original 1758 grant entry per a memorial in 1767? Any help with these questions would be very much appreciated. -Pelham Lyles, Fairfield County Museum (803-635-9811) From: scchest2-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:scchest2-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of scchest2-request@rootsweb.com Sent: Saturday, January 17, 2009 3:02 AM To: scchest2@rootsweb.com Subject: SCCHEST2 Digest, Vol 4, Issue 9
