Hello to all, I'm researching my great-great-great grandfather, Addison Samuel Grant, was born about 1815 in SC. I think he was born in the area between Chester and Newberry Co. At the time most Grant families lived in the Armenia section of Chester Co. but they were starting to migrate west, through SC GA and beyond. Addison bought 53 ac of land on the Sandy Run creek that flows into the Little River in Newberry Co. around 1840. He married Sarah/Sally Neely about 1839 and on the 1840 census for Newberry he was listed with one son under 5 yrs. Addison died in Jan. of 1848, in Newberry Co. He left his wife Sarah and four sons and one daughter; George W., William H., John S. and Andrew A. Grant, and Mary Francis his daughter. He left no will but the estate was adm. by a Joseph Davenport, he owned land next to Addison's property. Sarah remarried in 1850 to a Benjamin Fooshe, the family disappears after the 1860 census. I have found that three of the sons were in the Civil War, George, William and John. George lived in Anderson Co. SC after the War and died in the town of Pelzer in the 1890's If any one has any info on this family line, please contact me I have more info on the later members of this family and would like to share info. Thanks, Eddie in Belton

Seeking information regarding all Arnette/Arnet/Arnett of Chester about 1774. I am related to Peter Arnet of Anson Co., NC. However, there is another lineage of Arnett that are ancestors of John Querns Arnett, and his grandfather, in my own fathers genealogy. I am trying to find the Arnette/Arnett/Arnet father that may have married Anne Spears, or the grandfather of John Querns Arnett. There was a man named John Querns/Kerns. John Querns sister may have been Catherine Querns that married Edward Arnett and Edward had property in Spartanburg SC. John Querns will says Edward, William, and Samuel are his nephews. It is stated that John Spears is half-brother to John Querns. Unknown Arnett m. Ann (Spears) Arnett c. Edward m. Catherine Querns c. William m. Sarah Glaze 1804 Wilkes Co GA. c. Samuel m. Anna Ashmore(Bird Catchings) Wilkes Co. GA. *Two neices married Anderson Samuel later married Ellen Cullars of Lincolnton GA. I am related to Gladney from Fairfield Co, SC.. Winnsboro. These Arnett are also later in the east Alabama area and married into the Gladney genealogy there. Thankyou. --- Antivirus: Outbound message clean. The Will is online at SC Archives and History website. There were 2 or 3 Charles Millers in this county at that time. This Charles Miller was married to Ann [probably Carter]. No chldren are named and his estate was left to his nephew John Murphy and grand nephew Charles Miller Murphy. This Charles Miller lived on Fishing Creek. I've been studying the Chester County court and census records for past 6 months or so. I beleive all the Millers of Chester were close kin. The vast majority of residents of this county were from Ireland and many came in the fall of 1772 with Rev. William Martin. I have yet to detrmine if the Morrows were kin to the Millers, but there are many records invovling the Morrows and this Charles Miller. Joseph Morrow was a court official [judge, I believe] in late 1700's and also lived in the Fishing Creek area. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
