Author: ub4meib4u Surnames: Miller, Trussell Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.southcarolina.counties.chester/3999.3/mb.ashx Message Board Post: In my process of researching Millers in Chester, SC [1750-1830] AND in Henry County, GA [1823-1850], I have found Trussels in various court records. Let me know if you're interested in more info. I have found them on microfilmed records from SC and GA. I don't recall first names. If you really want to find out about ancestral lines, reading microfilms is a huge leap forward. Most of these are accessible at any local LDS church. See familysearch.org for a list of locations of their Family History Centers and lists of available microfilms. As I come across Trussells in my research, I will post info to the Trussell message board. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 2. Bill Liles
    3. The Trussell's farm was adjacent to John and Agnes Cockrell Liles on the Sandy River near current day Trussell Rd which is just west of the Chester Co. community of Cornwell. John and Agnes' daughter, Mourning Liles married Daniel Trussell and another daughter Elizabeth Liles married James Trussell. James and Elizabeth Liles Trussell also named their daughter Mourning and had a son named James Madison Trussell. John and Agnes Cockrell Liles' daughters, Mourning Liles Trussell and Elizabeth Liles Trussell had a brother, Samuel Liles who left Chester Co. in about 1815 with his son William and wife Betsy for Maury Co. Tn. I descend from his line. Other siblings were brothers James Liles and Zapaniah Liles. James left Chester Co for Georgia in the early 1800's and Zapaniah moved along with the Trussells, first to, Alabama and then to Louisiana along with others from their area of Chester Co. -----Original Message----- From: scchest2-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:scchest2-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of gc-gateway@rootsweb.com Sent: Thursday, November 13, 2008 9:00 AM To: SCCHEST2-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [SCCHEST2] Group effort to construct a documented Trussell ofChester District family tree This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. 1. Re: [SCCHEST2] Liles and Lyle Family of Chester Co.
    2. Bill Liles
    3. Generally speaking, those with the name Lyle (no S) are not genetically related to those spelled Liles and Lyles. Whether spelled with an I or a Y more so than not come from the same family and their DNA is very closely matched, but the lack of the S on the end much more often than not, signifies a different lineage not similar to those spelled with an S. In SC, as a general statement, the Lyle came from Scotland (mostly via Ireland) usually by the mid 1760's or so while the Liles/Lyles came, originally, to Virginia much earlier, circa 1650, and down into SC by the 1740's, The Liles/Lyles are, genetically speaking, of Viking/Norman/English ancestry. This is confirmed by the Lyles/Liles DNA Haplogroup testing I1a, originating in southwest Norway and generally considered pure Viking in origin, while most Lyle test R1b which is of central European origin. There is also history of the Viking settlements in Normandy circa 800 that later result in the Norman Conquest of England in 1066 and notations in the Domesday Book compiled by William the Conqueror for the inventory and taxation of lands given to soldiers taking the surname De Lisle upon receiving lands, most notably the Isle of Wight. Early mid 1600 records in the James River area,in what is now Isle of Wight Co. Virginia, indicate persons named both Lisle and Liles. It is easy to see how a transposition could be made. By the early 1700's Liles/Lyles are found in Brunswick Co Va and later in NC and SC. Records also show migration to Maryland but I have never been able to confirm via DNA results whether this branch matches the Va/NC/SC branch. There are always exceptions, but as administrator of the Lyles/Liles DNA project and seeing the results of these tests for over five years , I can confirm that is the overwhelming tendency. -----Original Message----- From: scchest2-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:scchest2-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Bev E Sent: Monday, October 20, 2008 8:19 AM To: scchest2@rootsweb.com Subject: [SCCHEST2] Liles and Lyle Family of Chester Co. Do you have directions to them? I have the topo maps of the area, and have not found any cemetery with the name Beaver Dam. I am looking for the graves of my Telford family who lived in the Beaver Dam - Rocky Creek area. Nancy Sicotte Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. We visited both of the Beaver Dam Cemetery's. The stones in the old cemetery are mostly illegible. I did find the graves of Francis Land, Jr. and his wife Eliz. Hartselle in the new Beaver Dam Church cemetery. They were next to the Castles. My MtDNA has lead me to the Liles/Lyles as one of my Native American links and not the Lands (at least as far as DNA can tell). I am still looking for the ancestry of Francis Land Sr's wife Elizabeth Littleton. Also, the Elldridge/Ellege name runs in my family too. My 4th ggm Dorcas Land-Liles b. 1782 named one of her son's Elldridge and another Mayberry. I have no clue where the Mayberry came from! The will does not mention any thing about he studies on grapes but I do remember some grape vines at the my grandparents house. My grandfather (Alexander Pearson Wylie) would have been Dr. AP Wylie's grandson and he was a farmer. A couple of his nicknames was Red Wylie and the Potato man because but most people knew him as Red Wylie.
