    3. I would love to chat with Joseph and Jane McConnelle Loudon and learn about their life in Ireland and what made them decide to come to America in 1800. Listening to their Irish accent and learning who THEIR grandparents were would be wonderful! 1. [SCCHEST2] THANKSGIVING
    2. Hi, I would like to have for Thanksgiving dinner my 3rd great grandparents, James Patton b.1780 SC and Violet Douglass b. 1783 SC. I can find no marriage plus their first child was born 1816 so I am missing a lot of information. It is possible that Violet Douglass was married to a Douglass and that is not her maiden name. So I would have lots of questions. Happy Thanksgiving to all, Judy Minihan

Author: KinMapper Surnames: Miller, Trussell Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.southcarolina.counties.chester/3999.3.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: This is in reply to two messages, the most recently posted one and this one. I selected this one as the one I preferred it be noticed since it is the one that mentioned my Miller family name. Actually as to between Trussells and Millers in Camden District of 1769 and thereafter, I am much more interested in the Millers, having an interest in two large such families of the many separate Miller pioneer or early immigrant families of this region. [Camden District was a colonial and early post-revolutionary boundary with it evolving in 1785 into Chester, York (and later part of Cherokee), Fairfield, Richland, Lancaster, Claremont and Clarendon Counties in 1785, and then most all becoming denominated as districts as of 1800 until effective with the 1868 Constitution, counties. Along the way from 1785 to present day, the latter three becoming (primarily) the current Lancaster, Kershaw, Sumter and Lee Counties.] At this point I will leave the organization of Trussell research to some other, but I do suggest that some research is not wise or ethical to be placed in public postings (at least not without written consent from all, yes all, those whose privacy rights would be compromised by such postings). This is usually a bit impractical and with that as an undeniable and unbreakable rule, it is more practicable to share such data privately. [It is conceded that the rule, although seldom denied is broken more often than obeyed by well-meaning amateur genealogists whose invasive posts sometimes become next to permanent etchings on the virtual www and its mirror "mirrored sites" images.] I am interested in corresponding with amateur and even professional, researchers of the Miller families with their heritage in the northern areas of what once was called Camden District, South Carolina to share thoughts, data and possibly family information. [The map attached is recognized to be in the public domain as it is promulgated by an agency of the federal government here in the USA and is done so for quick reference to the mentioned South Carolina counties, which definitely include Chester, county and district, both as to the Trussell name and the Miller name.] Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Elizabeth was the daughter of James Ferguson and Sarah (Unknown maiden name). There seems to be a lot of confusion regarding the Ferguson families that were in Chester Co early. There seems to have been 2 or 3 James Ferguson's in the same time frame. There was a James Ferguson who fought for the British during the revolution & another who was hung by Regulators for horse stealing. Robert J. Stevens in his book "Captain Bill Book 3" states that Elizabeth's brother David Ferguson wrote his will on 12/22/1761 in Anson County, NC (later in SC). In it he named Peter Culp and Samuel Neely as executors, two of his brother-in-laws. He also named his sisters Mary, Jane, Sarah, Elizabeth and his wife (he did not list his wife by name). In a letter dated 4/9/1986 from Shirley Doran, Genealogist for Clan Ferguson Society of North America she states, "It looks as if Jane, who married Robert Walker, Jr., David who wrote a will dated 22 December 1761, Mary who married an Elliott, Elizabeth who married Peter Culp, Sarah who married Samuel Neely and John who was killed at Barbara Culp McKinney's, were all children of James and Sarah Ferguson. I theorize that David of the 1761 will was the unnamed son of Sarah in Ellet's (Women of the American Revolution), who was also wounded at Barbara McKinney's in August of 1761 and finally died in December." Elizabeth F. Ellet recounts this story in full in the book Women of the American Revolution written in 1850 from an account by Daniel Green Stinson (1793-1879), the historian of Chester Co, SC. This book can be read on line by going to goggle books http://books.google.com/books?id=f_t_IScv4z0C&pg=PR1&dq=women of the american revolution, vol 3 by elizabeth ellet&ei=uSrkRr-IHYi67gKR1Yi8AQ#PPR1,M1 Robert Stevens states on page 193 in his puzzler's #CA, "that there was a James Ferguson who was hung for horse stealing by a group of Regulators in the 1760s somewhere in upper SC. Many people now accept he was the father of Elizabeth Ferguson Culp, but I doubt if the assumption will ever be documented."
