    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: DenisGraham Surnames: Graham, Sutton, Knox Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.southcarolina.counties.chester/2203.1.1.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: My Knox ancestors came to America (Chester County, SC) in 1765. They had a daughter, Nancy, who married Jacob Sutton in Chester County. Around 1805 Jacob and Nancy moved to Logan County, Kentucky. While in Logan County, their daughter, Catherine, married John Graham (Sr.) Some years later (but no later than 1819) Jacob and Nancy moved to Bedford County, Tennessee and then on to Walker County, Alabama and then to Lawrence County, Alabama. Members of Jacob's family who moved with him to Lawrence County, Alabama included two of his daughters and their husbands: Mary Sutton married to John Morrow and Catherine Sutton married to John Graham Sr. Subsequently,John Graham and his wife Catherine moved to Benton County, Missouri where they lived until they died. One of John and Catherine Graham's children was John Graham (Jr.). He and his wife had a son, Albert Kincaid Graham. Albert had a son, Elbert Eldon "Bill" Graham. Bill had a son, Denis Graham (me). I don't have a clue as to whether or not we are related through each of our Graham lines. However, given that we both had relatives who lived in Chester County, South Carolina and given that we both, one way or another, are related to persons with the surname Graham, I thought it might beneficial for us to communicate with one another. Author: NancyCrayton51 Surnames: Moose Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.southcarolina.counties.chester/4095.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I wasn't going to reply but seeing your response I have to agree with you. In the mid 1700s a group migrated from Pennsylvania and settled in what is now Cabarrus and Stanly Counties. These were German Lutherans. Among them were a family whose name had been Americanized to Moose. The name is actually Mussegenung. David Mussengenung and wife Elizabeth arrived from Germany in Philadelphia on Sept 16, 1751 with infant son, George. Sons Anthony, Henry and Jacob Moose were born later in Pennsylvania. Jacob moved to North Carolina and settled in the area of present day Cabarrus or Stanly County. His daughter, Barbara Moose, is my great great great great grandmother. If you have ancestors with the surname Moose, look for a German (aka "Dutch") immigrant rather than a Native American ancestor in the Southeastern U.S. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I live in Glasgow Scotland and am a great Great grand-daughter of Mary Anne (Molly ) McLurkin or Mcclurkin of Ballyclug, Ballymena Antrim. Her father was Thomas, a Master Blacksmith, who died around 1859. I undertand that some Mclurkins moved to SA in 1775. I wonder if we are from the same stock and am interested in the settling of our various forebears. In turn I can relate our family story if you are interested in hearing from me.
