I'm looking for the parents of Nancy M. Stinson, b. in Chester in 1826, who married Lemuel Thompson Jackson in 1850. She's mentioned in the will of Betsy Stinson (her grandmother, I think) and so seems to be a descendant of the Covenanters and a great-niece of Nancy Stinson Anderson Green. But I can't figure out which of many siblings was her father. I could also be on the wrong track, since my mother thought the Stinsons came from Tennessee. Does anybody know this family?

    3. Chester, April 23, 1921 The child of D.HIPPS, near Chester, came near bleeding to death when in some unaccountable way he slipped and nearly cut one of his legs off when he came in contact with a broken fruit jar. A hurried call was sent to DR. H.B. MALONE. Before he arrived there the child had nearly bled to death. Reports from the bedsides of the child today were that he was doing well as could be expected . - The hundreds of friends of Sheriff D. GOBER ANDERSON will rejoice to know that he has been able to walk about a little the last few days and now seems to be on the complete road to recovery. It will be recalled that several weeks ago he was almost shot to death by a negro, SAM McCOLLOUGH, while he was raiding his house for liquor. The severe wound on the sheriff's mouth has healed nicely and he is able to talk audibly and barring any unforeseen difficulty, he will be able to leave the Chester Sanatorium within the next fortnight. - The REV. ROBERT G. LEE, D.D., pastor of the First Baptist church of Chester, returned today from Wagener, where he took part in a four days Bible conference at which a number of notable Bible students were present. DR. LEE, himself, delivered four lectures at the conference. - C.W. WILLIAMS and A.S. REILLEY of Greensboro, N.C., are the new Ford agents for Chester county. Their business will be known as the REILLEY-WILLIAMS Motor Company. - Most of Chester's physicians availed themselves of the nearness of the annual meeting of the S.C. Medical Assoc. to attend at least part of the sessions in Columbia this week. - DR. S.B. KOSER expects to leave in a few days for a three months trip to Europe. - W.L. STANLEY, general attorney for the Seaboard Air Line railway, was a visitor in the city today and looked at the site for the handsome new passenger station that railways is going to erect in Chester. It is hoped to have the new station finished by fall. ---- nancie o. - hope this isn't a repeat !

He had been a farmer in the Johnsville community since he went there at the age of 21 years from his native Chester County in South Carolina, where he was born December 11, 1849, a son of Thomas L. and Nancy Jane Thomas Ferrell. Mr. Ferrell was married to Miss Elizabeth Rowell of Monticello and of that union there were born two sons. His second marriage was to Miss Sarah Emiline Rainey of Johnsville and of that marriage there were four daughters. Through more than 77 years Mr. Ferrell saw Bradley County grow from a wooded area with only scattered clearings to a busy agricultural and timber products section. Keen of sight and hearing, he continued to work in his garden, take an interest in community and church activities, and read his Bible, newspapers, and magazines. Until five years ago Mr. Ferrell was active in farming and up to 20 years ago, when his gin burned, he had added its operation to his busy life on the farm. On his 97th birthday he attributed his long life and good health to the hearty breakfast he always enjoyed, saying it started the day right and kept him going. Surviving are his two sons, L. P. Ferrell and H. H. Ferrell; the four daughters, Mrs. Grover Herring, Mrs. Vertie Temple, Mrs. Owen Lowery, and Mrs. Edd Lowery; 40 grandchildren and 49 great grandchildren. All live in the Johnsville community. Services for the aged man were held Tuesday morning at 11 from the Johnsville Presbyterian church, of which he was a member. Rev. Pat N. Easterling, pastor of the First Presbyterian church of Warren, officiated. Interment was made in Calvary cemetery. Pallbearers were Wilson Huitt, Ferrell Temple, Mason Lowery, Ted Herring, Howard Ferrell, and Owen Ferrell. _Return to Message_ (http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec?htx=message&r=rw&p=localities.northam.usa.states.arkansas.counties.bradley&m=1275) Ash / Ashe / Kirkpatrick / Rainey / Tipping / Torrence / Inman /

Williams son John was born in 1784 in York county and married Rebecca Work Drummond. They are buried in Clark county IN. John died in Clark county on Dec 31, 1833. Rebecca died Mar. 15, 1869 and is buried in the Clark cemetery in Clark county. It is now a Boy Scout camp with many of the original buildings still there near Charlestown, IN. I am looking for information on Crayton/Creighton WILLIAMS 1/1/1796 - 7/11/1789 and his family. According to info I recently received, he enlisted for the War of 1812 in Warren Co NC in 10/1814 and served until 12/1815 when discharged in SC. He settled in Kershaw Co and married twice. First wife was Sarah GARDNER, who he married sometime before 1820. She was born in mid to late 1790s and died 10/12/1843 near Liberty Hill area. A son, William Sims WILLIAMS, is my gr3grandfather and was born 1/20/1820. Creighton filed for a pension for his service in the War in 1812. His second wife also filed for a widow's pension after he died in 1879. Here is 1820 Census for them: Kershaw Co SC Locale: NO TWP LISTED Series: M33 Roll: 119 Part: 1 Page: 308 Creighton Williams: 1 male under 10, 1 male 26-45; 1 female under 10, 2 females bet 16-26; 1 engaged in agriculture In 1830 Census I found them in Fairfield Co SC. 1830 Census, Fairfield Co SC, Roll 169, Book 1, p 309a Genealogy.com Creighton Williams: 1 male age 5-10, 1 male 30-40, 2 females age 5-10, 1 female 10-15; 1 fem 30-40. In 1840 also in Fairfield Co. 1840 Census, Fairfield Co SC, p 172 Craton Williams, 1 male under 5, 1 male 40-50; 1 female 10-15, 1 fem 15-20; 1 fem 20-30, 1 fem 40-50. Wife Sarah (GARDNER) WILLIAMS died 10/12/1843 near Liberty Hill, per his pension application for War of 1812. He also had bounty land for his service, which may have been in Kershaw Co where he lived from c1860 till he died in 1879. In the 1860 CR he was in the Liberty Hill area and in 1870 in Wateree Twp. He remarried Sarah PRICE GRIGSBY, a widow, on 1/3/1844 at the home of Abner PRICE, Fairfield Co. She had a son, John Abney Grigsby, born 1/21/1841, with her first husband, John GRIGSBY who died abt 1841. She and Craton had 3 of their own children by the 1850 Census, and more by 1860. In 1850 Census he was in Lancaster District., an overseer: Crayton Williams age 55, overseer, SC (should be NC) Sarah Williams, age 30, SC James Williams age 12, SC, in school - probably James Abney Grigsby - stepson born 1/21/1841 John Williams age 9 SC, in school Amanda Williams age 7, SC E Williams age 1 (female) SC I am interested in finding the GARDNER family who would have had a daughter Sarah born bet 1796-1800. A check of the Census in Kershaw Co for 1800 shows 3 GARDNERs with females under age 10 which would fit for daughter Sarah GARDNER: Susan GARDNER (a widow? - had 2 females under age 10); Daniel GARDNER had 1 fem. under 10; and a William GARDNER had 1 fem. under age 10. In 1810 Census, William and Daniel GARDNER were still in the county and each had a female age 10-15. Also there was a George GARDNER who had 2 females 10-15. Does anyone have information on any of these GARDNER households and whether a daughter named Sarah? Any will/estate information for them that would show the names of children, and hopefully a daughter Sarah?? Also, Sarah Gardner WILLIAMS died in 10/1843 near Liberty Hill area, so is there a cemetery in that area where she might be buried? Are there any readings from any cemeteries near Liberty Hill for burials in 1840s? Creighton and his second wife are buried in Zion ME Cemetery near the Richland Co line. Creighton died 7/11/1879 and Sarah (PRICE) GRISGBY WILLIAMS died 1/8/1900. Thanks anyone who can help. I am researching the KNOX family...............................it is written that Robert KNOX went from Franklin Co. Ky "about 1810" to settle the estate of his departed wife. This info in a book on the KNOX family. Does any thing show up in Chester County or near by for this woman............Elizabeth Gill KNOX.? Second wife of Robert was Millie Buckhannon. Robert KNOX is the son of James Knox and Lady Elizabeth Craig. I have our KNOX line back to the birth of Austin Knox, b. 1810 Kentucky, m. Susan Ann ELLISTON (lst husband, A. Castleman) in 1834. I know without a doubt that this line for Austin continues back to James and Lady Elizabeth. But parentage is a real question...........is the father of Austin to be Robert, or his oldest son?? Tieing together two ends of research is at the top of my Christmas list.............!!!!!!!!! It would really help me to have this estate settlement.
