I too am looking for a Roberts family in the area. Julia Ellen Roberts married A. Clinton Gidney in York District (now Cherokee County) on 31 August 1876. One reference I read indicated that her father owned a store on the site of the old Gaffney Post Office. According to an 1894 map of Gaffney, In the block between Frederick and Robinson along the north side of Granard were two large dwellings, a cobbler, and a produce dealer. Any information re: Ms Roberts is appreciated.
