Mary died May 24, 1922 in Pacolet, Spartanburg, SC. I would like to find any info on Mary's siblings. Paul Carter

I have been looking for my g-grandfather (Jim Carter) some time. In my grandfather's VA file it had his records from every time he visited the post hospital. What was interesting was that the hospital cards had a section on family history and it gave the status of his parents, siblings, and nearest relative. >From family stories, it is said that Jim Carter died about 1904 around Murphy, NC. I haven't been able to find any records on him (he wasn't in the 1900 census with the family). In his son's VA records, it said that he died of typhoid at the age of 32 (age 43 in another record). Death certificates weren't used back then. I am wondering if a typhoid death would have been recorded by some government agency. Does anyone know of an organization that would have kept those types of records and where I could find them today? Jim Carter married Mary Bishop about 1892. Paul Carter Arvada, CO

I am looking for information on my great grandgrandmother, Mary Bishop. She was born Oct 18, 1864 in GA. She married James Carter (born in GA). James Carter supposedly died about the time his last child was born (1904). Their children were: Josephine Carter born GA Jun 17, 1892; married David Staggs Emma Carter born GA Nov 7, 1897 (?); married ____ Grubbs Maude Carter born NC May 2, 1898; married Thomas Whitt Mauldin Carter born NC May 2, 1898 (my grandfather) Dorothy Carter born NC Aug 5, 1904; married Milus Herman Lister I have extensive information on all the children except for Emma Carter. They all moved to SC. Mary Bishop Carter was listed on the 1900 US Census as head of the household but was also listed as married. She and her children were living in Murphy, NC. I can't find James Carter. After James Carter's supposed death around 1904, Mary married Harvey Thomas in SC about 1908. They had at least four additional children: Ellie M. Thomas b SC about Sep 1909; married a Mr. Bright Ernest Thomas b SC 1911, d 1933; married Sally Wyatt Minnie Thomas b SC about 1916; married Bob Jones Mattie B. Thomas b SC about 1919 At the time of the 1910 US Census, they were living in Austin Township, Greenville Co, SC. At the time of the 1920 US Census, they were living in White Plains, Cherokee Co, SC. Mary died about 1923-1925 and is buried at the Goucher Baptist Church Cemetery, Gaffney. I have not been able to find a death certificate or obituary for her. I sure would like to know a more precise date for her death. Harvey Thomas later married Annie Ranger and died in 1953. Mary suposedly had brothers and sisters but I can't seem to find any. Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks, Paul Carter Arvada, CO
