Hi Paul All I know about Maggie Thomas is that she had a sister, named Ida Thomas, who married a Fortenberry. They may have been from Pacolet or near there. Maggie was married to Orin Gool/Gould Berry,a guess at this point is,in the 1920s. She died from Measles?,as did her baby son,her two daughters,Clara Bell Berry and Beatrice Berry survived. The daughters were in an orphanage in Spartanburg,SC.until Orin Gool Berry remarried Nettie Lamb.Gool and Nettie eventually settled in Greenville,SC. Sorry, that at this time I do not have more dates and information. later Gay
HI Audrey I did not realize that Bogansville would be so close to Spartanburg,Sc. You asked where the Beam line is from. The Beam name is from my exhusband,His father's family came from around Thomasville,NC. John Teeter Beam born 1702 in Hamburg Germany, had a son Michael Beam born 1732 in Hamburg,Germany, who migrated to America in 1767 in Charleston,SC. Michael Beam migrated to Lincoln county NC.and his decendants spread thru out NC.and beyond.Quite a large group of families. My exhusband's father moved from Thomasville,NC.to Marietta,SC.Travelers Rest,SC.to Greenville,SC.in the 1930s. His Mother was Clara Bell Berry,Her Mother was Maggie Thomas (Pacolet area)her father was GooL Berry born abt 1900,(parents were Fred and Cornelia Eaton Berry) at one time GooL lived around Boganville,Sc.Per the 1920 Union co.census.He moved around. migrated to Marietta, where his daughter marriedTimonthy Tester Beam and moved on to Greenville,Sc. Gool Berry had a brother,Lewis Roland Berry, from Gaffney who died in 1966.He donated the land for Berry Memorial Church, and lived near the Church. I am just getting started with this Berry line and do not have a lot of information/dates/locations on them yet.But I am still digging. I was surprised to find Gool Berry in Union co.SC.I was searching for the prince line in the online census.I have a Jesse Prince, who was in Pickens co.SC.1850-1860.died during the civil war.I have been told that his father was Aaron Prince, but have not verified this. There is quite a large Prince line in Union co.SC.I have not found aaron Prince and cannot connect to thses Princes yet. You can see that I am an Optimist on these lines. :-) Anything look familiar to any one. Thank you for any help later Gay

I and my husband are in the process of building a website on states in the southeast. Im going to have basic information of the Counties and on records and links. If someone familiar with the records available for this county could take a look at it and correct me on information or can add info (especially county history), I would really appreciate it. Also any feedback from anyone is also helpful. The address is http://www.segenealogy.com then go to the state and county page. Thanks in advance. Could somebody help me with the locations of some old townships used in censuses? In the 1860 York County census I'm wondering about Antioch, Boydton, Harmony, New House, and Yorkville. In the 1920 Cherokee County census it's Blacksburg, Cherokee, and Limestone. I have a fairly good idea as to where some were - some seem obvious; others I haven't a clue. In no case do I know the extent of the township. Thanks. Ralph
