I've got Childers & Wallaces in my background, but they were originally from Madison Co., NC, so they're probably not related, but you never know. I can tell you this, though...the Moss' & Whites are as thick as thieves! I've got quite a bit on them (along with some pretty amusing stories). Maybe your branch is in there. I'll get back to you as soon as I can. Barb

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/QeB.2ACI/136.1.1.3.1 Message Board Post: Barbara, Your Andrew Jackson Parker is the same as my research. I began this research after my husband died but before many of the other Parker's died. I remember meeting Uncle Horace many times at funerals etc. My husband, Dean, was oldest grandson of Larkin Johnson Parker and Bessie Phillips and lived at Draytonville. I have four PARKER children and while looking for my ancestors I started gathering info for their ancestors. First, let me say I am not Morman but have no problem with their research BUT remember when you get a print-out you need to check sources - everything on the print-out was donated by someone doing research and it is their desired ancestors - not always fact. 1870 Spartanburg SC Census printed page 493 (27 written #) dwelling 198, family # 201 lists the following: Parker, Nancy 53 F W Keeping House; Mary 16 F W; Mackamson, Gorge 65 M W Farmer (biological father of Andrew Jackson Parker and Mary Jane Parker Pennington); Parker, Jack [Andrew Jackson] 23 M W Farmer; wife Margret [Mackamson] 23 F W Keeping House; Frank 5 M W; George [Bart] 2 M W. Nearby in dwelling 200 family # 203 is Isaac Pennington 45 M W The following are listed in "Tombstones and Cemeteries of Cherokee County, South Carolina by Bobby G. Moss Volume 3" 16P (Coyle, Granny Cemetery) PARKER, MARGRET 23 Dec 1843 22 Aug 1879; also in 16P MACKAMSON, GORGE W 03 Apr 182_ __Mar 1885. His wife, [Martha - see 1850 Union Co census and1880 census listing below] and some of his children were buried at Draytonville cemetery but have no markers per Rev Robert Ivey]. 1880 Union Co SC Census Soundex 624 22 153 42 19 shows following, but actual census is clear enough to copy (I copied) on this one: dwelling 392, hs 400 Parker, John W M 33; Julia W F 22 wife; Franklin W M 15 son; George M. W M 11 son; Ettie W F 9 dau; Nancy W F 7 dau; Jackson W M 4 son; Hattie W F 2 dau; Pendleton, Robert Rowland W M 3 step-son; Pendleton, Vida W F 2 step child; Parker Nancy W F 63 Mother; NEXT line hs 393 fam 401 Hill, Martha [Mackamson/Macombson] W F 32; Hill, William W M 11 son; Macombson, Martha W F 75 mother (more listed but I did not copy next area). The first two children of Andrew Jackson and Julia Ann were born while Margret was still alive - in fact Hattie was born same year as Vada. I have handwritten letter from Willie Parker, dau of Robert Roland, saying "my father was first born son of my mother" - she did not say firstborn of my parents. In another section of 1880 census Rowland Parker age 3 was listed with Johnson Pennington as grand son in Limestone Springs Township. 1860 Union Co SC census pg 296 Nancy Parker 43 is listed with Andrew 13 and Mary 6, and 1850 Union Co she is listed with Andrew aged 2 I have not been able to find parents of Nancy but have research for several Parker groups and hope to someday tie her lineage into one of the other groups in what was then Union, Spartanburg, York Counties - Now Cherokee Co (formed 1897) SC

The 1850 Union County census lists Wm. Garner, 13, Peggy Garner, 15 and Joseph Garner 7 as living in the home of Thomas and Elizabeth Owensby. Do any of these names sound familiar? Do you know the connection between the Owensby's and Garner's? Also, Jacob Kirby is buried off Hwy 150 south of Gaffney in the "old Porter cemetery" and in the deed records there are several conveyances between the Kirby's and Porter's. Do you know anything about this cemetery and/or connection between Kirby's and Porter's. I have not found this cemetery listed on any SC site. It is abandoned, in a pasture and grown up in vines and brush. It has about 30 graves with several Kirby's and Porter's. Oddly enough in l978, a Duane Kirby lived across the road. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks, Rex Kirby
