Would like to jump into the conversation about scanners --- I have a Visioneer 3100 that cost me $40 after rebate, and I get excellent results with it. The software that came with it is quite adequate for scanning photos and copying. I manage fairly well with the OCR as well, but it could be better. OCR results depend largely on the resolution of the scan and the OCR software. I would be wary of the all-in-one machines because most of the lower price ones will scan only in black & white. If you want to scan color photos, you're out of luck. My scanner is a 30-bit machine - the latest models are 36 bit, and that affects the price. I get very good results with 30 bits. Anne White
