Sydney, Some advice - subscribe to as many mailing lists as you can in any state where you find any Germany's. You never can tell who knows what about someone in your family. I found info in some of the strangest places - found out my family is not from Mass. originally, but R.I., then CT., THEN Mass. I also found a lost branch of the family by using Soundex and coming up with a Wilkerson/Wilkinson. We though the branch was lost, but it seems that this staid englishman married a Cherokee Indian and probably had to change his name from Wilkinson to Wilkerson. Why, we may never know, but my theory is that he was disowned by his family, and changed his name in protest, so his family would not have to suffer the pain of bigotry from his English family. We descendants of the English can be quite snobby! Good luck! If I find any good sources in my search, I will let you know!
