Indian chief Mortar? I have an excerpt from SC Council Journal, A.M. Council Chamber(WHAT DOES AM STAND FOR?) , Sept. 2, 1763 of an affidavit of an Indian trader who gives account of my ggggggrandfather Samuel VENNING of Macartan & Campbells and his man Edward SCOPEAM being killed by Mortar & his men. This story has been handed down with several variations, but this is first "proof" that it is true. Any help with any of these ?s will be greatly appreciated. Jackie
