Kathy, I don't know anything about Jewish genealogy, but I do know that some of the DAR Patriots from South Carolina were Jewish and that the earliest Jewish congregation in America was founded in Charleston. He and his wife died, leaving at least four small children, several of whom were raised in the Charleston Orphan House. By the time the children left the home, the spelling of the name had been shortened to Abrams. We have no idea if the family was Jewish or not...no family tradition or oral history, possibly because the children were raised in the Orphan House, I don't know. There is, at least, one book available and probably manuscripts, etc., at the various Charleston libraries. Kathy Marsh >>
